Tangela is a financial strategist, governance advisor, and financial literacy advocate with over 25 years of financial services experience as a Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk and Control Officer, with expertise across strategic business growth, financial planning, audit, compliance, risk assurance, capital planning, investment banking operations, treasury oversight, and regulatory financial services filings.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holder of the Certificate in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors, Tangela combines technical financial precision with enterprise-wide risk intelligence. Her career spans leadership roles overseeing strategic operational growth, financial planning for both investment and retail banking institutions, compliance frameworks, audit assurance, capital and liquidity strategy, budgeting, taxation for financial services businesses (including Bahamas VAT and BL taxation), correspondent and correspondent banking onboarding, internal audits, and external auditor engagements.
Tangela is a proud alumna of Harvard Business School and holds a BA (first-class honours) in Accounting & Financial Management from the University of Essex, England, complemented by her postgraduate MSc in International Banking, Securities & Investment Management from the University of Reading, England.
She has worked and led teams throughout the Caribbean, including The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Barbados, and Turks & Caicos; and, while educated in England, she has also worked in the United States for PwC.
She is recognised for her analytical rigour, collaborative leadership, and laser focus on service excellence. She has a proven track record of business excellence, a deep understanding of diverse financial services functions, and a passion for business risk management.
